Like many other famous Japanese brands, Neighborhood has its roots in the alleys of Ura-Harajuku, the fashion district of Tokyo. The designs of Neighborhood's high-quality clothing have been inspired by a variety of subcultures. With the influence of military and motorcycle clothing, Indian culture, or work- and outdoor wear, NBHD has managed to develop its very own signature and incorporate it into its collections. The skull, for example, is a recurring stylistic element, which can also be seen on various collaborations with adidas, Converse, Eastpak or Vans. It took years until Neighborhood was also known in the western countries, even though the streetwear scene in Japan was shaped long before the term was even used. Besides clothing, NBHD is known for its detailed ceramic Incense Chamber, which exists in countless designs.
