Shoes from Van Doren - Vans
Vans is proof that you just have to be in the right place at the right time. A new trend sport began to spread in California, we are talking about skateboarding. The sunny boys of the local surf scene in the sunny U.S. state became asphalt surfers in the doldrums. They screwed wheels under short narrow boards and rode barefoot up and down the boardwalk, the birth of the skateboard.

Vans Authentic - The world's first skateboarding shoe
Back in 1966, the #44 was the first skate shoe to hit the market, which we know today as the Vans Authentic. The robust design and the grippy sole were perfect to have a firm grip on the skateboard.

Vans Era
With the help of two aspiring skateboarders Tony Alva and Stacy Peralta, the #95 model is designed in 1976. It was the brand's first two-tone sneaker and is still available today as the Vans Era.

Vans Old Skool
A year later comes #36, the Vans Old Skool with its distinctive side stripe. It was the first skate shoe to feature built-in leather panels to ensure longer durability.

Vans Sk8 Hi and Vans Classic Slip-On
It went blow by blow, because in 1978 follows the Sk8 Hi, which at that time was called Style #38. This gave a new look to the functionality of skate shoes, as the high-top sneaker gave extra protection to the ankles.

The #98, better known as Vans Classic Slip-On followed in 1979. Skaters, BMX riders and surfers let this model become the absolute cult sneaker, especially the variant with the checkered Checkerboard pattern knew how to please.

Vans - From bankruptcy to a new beginning.
In the 1980s, Vans had extremely expanded its product range. They produced shoes for other sports such as baseball, basketball, wrestling and even skydiving, but the expanded product field exhausted the brand's resources. Although still selling well in its core market, Vans was unable to pay off its debts and had to file for bankruptcy in 1984. Paul van Doren, who left the company in 1976, returned and began restructuring the company. Within a few years, Vans was able to pay off its debts and went back to what they did best and that was skateboarding shoes. Once again Vans collaborated with a pro-skater and in 1989 introduced the Vans Steve Caballero, the world's first skate signature shoe which we also know as the Vans Half-Cab. Vans stands for skateboarding like no other sneaker brand and sponsors various sporting events worldwide. True to the company's motto "Vans - Off the Wall", which means crazy or mad, one can be curious how Vans continues its path of an authentic sneaker brand.

The design of most Vans sneaker models has not changed in recent decades, but a few innovations may still be. With Comfycush, Vans has developed its own insole so that the legendary styles also offer lasting comfort.

Vans for Girls
Of course, the classic sneakers are also popular with women. Vans Platform are women's shoes with platform soles and Vans has equipped the most popular sneaker models with them.
