The advertising graphic designer Massimo Osti has already started in the late 60s to refine leisure clothing with different techniques. Then in the mid-70s he founded his own company, which he called Chester Perry. He adapted the name for his brand from a comic strip in which the main character works in a factory with the same name. Due to the similarity of the name with Fred Perry and Chester Barrie, an English men's tailor, he renamed the brand C.P. Company in 1978. In the early 80s, Stone Island and Boneville were two more lines added to the brand portfolio.

It was important to Massimo Osti to design functional clothing and to focus on this only. Countless patents are registered to him and he has improved or even invented quite a few techniques. Initially he experimented with truck tarpaulins, nylon and canvas to various stonewash techniques. Osti saw himself more as a product designer than a fashion designer, his influences coming from aerospace, medical technology to military clothing. He gave a new twist to the familiar piece dyeing of clothing, as he and his team managed to use different materials on one garment and then dye this finished piece. This resulted in different shades and countless colors were possible, giving free rein to creativity.

In 1987, the goggles had their premiere. These were glasses that were built into the hood of a jacket. In addition, there was a glass on the wrist, which gave a view of the wristwatch. He was inspired by military clothing, such as the gas mask, from which he also adapted other essentials of his designs.

C.P. Company's collections go far beyond jackets. There are T-shirts, sweatshirts and bags, many with the goggle as an iconic design element.
