OVERKILL EVENT RECAP 2023

The year 2023 was once again extremely varied. There were also ups and downs for us at Overkill, but we want to focus on the positive things that happened this year. Above all, we would like to look back on the cool events and activations this year and create a little recap for you with all the highlights from 2023. Enjoy!

We started in February with an activation for Birkenstock. The brand with the legendary cork-soled slides added a new model to its portfolio with the Naples. We portrayed five young and aspiring artists from Berlin at work. The whole thing was rounded off perfectly with an exhibition at the HVW8 Gallery at the beginning of March.

March is traditionally the month in which Nike Air Max is celebrated. This year saw a new edition of the legendary Shima Shima Air Max 1, which we celebrated in style and, thanks to a live performance by Ski Aggu, brought the Gate Backyard to life.

In March, we also had a wonderful activation for adidas Berlin. Together with our protagonist Paule, we visited the REAL Berlin. You can find what he experienced here on YouTube. The thing was a big hit and a great experience for our team too.

Let's jump into May, where we organized our first running event together with On Running. With the claim Get Weird and as an introduction to the new Cloudmonster model, there was a sporty run through Kreuzberg followed by food, drinks, and music in the Arena.

Overkill also opened its own Späti in May! Unfortunately, only as a pop-up for the release of the Rhuigi x Puma collection, but it was a fun thing. Lots of Späti items in a special Overkill design were available to everyone free of charge. We even produced our newspaper for this occasion.

In July, we teamed up with Berlin artist Pauluschkaa for the Asics classic GT-2160. Paula crochets cool hats and was the perfect choice to showcase the sneaker above the rooftops of Berlin.

July also saw another event for the collaboration between Pleasures and Eastpak. With live performances by Babyb3ns and Souly, the trendy pub Zum Starken August was taken over and people danced, drank, and sang like there was no tomorrow.

And because July is one of the most beautiful months in Berlin, there was another in-store event. Sneakerqueen and Ernie, both friends of Overkill, were able to share their expertise on the adidas Rivalry and Conductor models. The Collectors Project was celebrated with a small exhibition of original models from their archives.

In August, New Balance released a new model, the WRPD Runner. We portrayed Nayiveer for this activation. The multidisciplinary artist drafts and produces carpets in her own design and we accompanied her during the creation process.

The Swoosh once again dominated September. We took over the Berlin TV Tower for the release of the Nike Air Max Plus "Light Photography". After an exuberant bus ride through our beautiful city, we admired the sunset in Berlin's largest disco ball and danced to the driving bass.

We also made a return visit to our Cologne store. The occasion was the release of the Asics Gel-Kayano Legacy. With late summer temperatures, delicious ice cream, and nice music, all visitors were able to learn about the long history of the Asics classic and also win a unique piece by the artist Optik.

October heralds the start of fall and is also the time of year when Oktoberfest is celebrated. Not necessarily in Berlin, but we don't have to be asked twice when Pleasures and Puma join forces. We celebrated our own little Oktoberfest in the middle of Alexanderplatz and highlighted the collection.

In November, we were invited to Paris by On Running. There, our Overkill Running team had to compete against many others in running events. We also had the chance to test the new On Running Cloudflow. Even though we didn't stand a chance against the others, the experience and the trip to Paris was a wonderful experience.

November also saw what was probably the most exciting collaboration of the year! The delivery service Uber Eats and Overkill created a capsule collection with the best restaurants in the city. The highlight is that each item of clothing comes with a voucher for orders from Uber Eats, so bon appétit! For the drop, there was once again a get-together in the Gate Backyard, with drinks, music, and lots of good time.

December is here, it's getting cold outside but Overkill warms your heart. Together with the Jordan Brand, we portrayed ZuZu and Burak on the occasion of the release of the Air Jordan 11 Gratitude. You can see the final result here. The release event was then celebrated in our Overkill Women Store. Mulled wine, delicious pastries, and food as well as nice beats were the perfect accompaniment to this evening.
