In the early 70s, the Nike Blazer was a pure performance sneaker for basketball and the clean white leather upper was perfect for showcasing the oversized Swoosh. This was designed two years earlier by design student Carolyn Davidson. The Nike Blazer High owes its name to the NBA team Portland Trailblazers.
Nike Blazer Mid or Nike Blazer Low?
With the invention of Air technology, Nike's Air Force 1 overtook the Blazer as the most popular basketball sneaker. However, the model found great popularity in skateboarding, especially the Nike Blazer Low with its vulcanized sole and subtle design became the sneaker of the scene. Even today, the Nike Blazer from Nike SB Skateboarding is still on the starting line.
Nike Blazer Mid - The trend sneaker
The retro wave and the great demand for Blazer vintage archival models helped Nike establish the Blazer as a lifestyle sneaker. Even though the Blazer looks like a high-top sneaker to some, it is actually a mid-top cut. Due to the slim fit shape, the Nike Blazer Mid is especially popular among women as a sneaker. Many well-known brands like Supreme, Off-White or Fragment have used the sneaker for their collaborations with Nike and thus made it even more popular.
