In 1981, Nike Hiking had already been founded as a division and in 1989 Nike ACG followed as the logical continuation of this line. The three Nike designers Tinker Hatfield, Dan Wieden and David Kennedy had the idea during a joint camping trip. With models like Lava Dome or Magma, they laid the foundation for the success story. Nike ACG models make use of the company's innovations to create the best product. Cushioning techniques like Air technology can be used for hiking as well as water-repellent sneakers with Gore-Tex protection.
