Theo Nägelein founded the company named after him in the Franconian town of Herrieden. Initially, the company produced underwear for women, before the production of knitted women's fashion started at the end of the 50s. In the 70s, a new concept was added to the portfolio. With his son Wilhelm, he created the Carlo Colucci brand, which reflected the Nägelein family's preference for the luxurious Italian lifestyle. The colorful knit sweaters hit the zeitgeist of the late 70s and early 80s. The brand quickly became a luxury label and the high-quality knitwear sold like hot cakes. The brand name Carlo Colucci and its logo, Icarus in a wreath of meander, became a status symbol. The sweaters from the 80s and 90s are still coveted collector's items today. Due to the long history of the brand and the high-quality workmanship, the sweaters of Carlo Colucci have become a cult object. Colucci also had different series, especially the sweaters from the "Gold Edition" were popular and have received the nickname "King Carlo" around connoisseurs. Carlo Colucci clothing is nowadays produced in Italy, of course with the same well-known quality.
